The Andreas Kapfinger Portrait

Bound to the Mountains

Some connections to the mountains run deeper than words can express. As part of "Tirol Werbung's" (the Tyrol Tourist Board) Bergverbunden campaign, we had the honor of creating a short portrait of Tyrolean Paralympic athlete Andreas Kapfinger.

This film is more than a sports clip; it’s an intimate look at freedom and resilience. Andreas’s story is one of unwavering passion. We wanted to capture the pure joy and profound sense of independence he experiences when carving down the slopes on his mono ski. The focus lies on the seamless harmony between the athlete, his specialized equipment, and the breathtaking alpine environment.

The Execution: Filming a mono skier requires a highly dynamic approach. To capture the unique, low-to-the-ground perspective and the fluid motion of his turns, we utilized agile camera tracking directly on the snow. In post-production, Wolfgang focused on amplifying the emotional core of the footage. Through a sensitive edit and an immersive soundscape that highlights the crisp snow and the quiet grandeur of the Alps, the film translates Andreas's personal mountain connection into a moving cinematic experience.
